I have naturally curly hair, but since I moved to Brooklyn about a year ago my hair does not curl like it used to. I use all the same hair products and every time I try to wear my hair curly it is limp and hangs straight. When I was living in NJ or visiting friend in Buffalo I had curly hair that bounced and was defined. Is there something I can do to my water in Brooklyn so I can have nice, bouncy, defined curls?

idk. but i think if you want that shape again then you should try after getting out of the shower blow dry your hair and as you blow dry it make sure you wrap the hair around a brush that looks like this

as you are doing that take the blow dryer and put it rite against the brush and the hair. after the hair is completely dry put all of the products in that you usually add.

I’m about to move to Japan with the JET programme and I’m trying to decide what to bring. I’m Irish and I have soft curly hair. Does anyone know if I’ll be able to find products for my curly hair, or will everything be too strong or harsh (since Asian hair is much thicker).

i havint been to japan but its most likely they will have their in the a drug store
you should bring a little bottle(s) of like shampoo and conditioner just in case its a bit harder to find but you will

I did the BC in August and have tried several different methods to define my natural curl pattern. I use Kinky-Curly Curling Custard now to define my curls. It contains all natural products so there aren’t any harmful chemicals that you will find in most commercialized products. Also it smells great. The leave-in conditioner that is found on the website is good but I tend to mix it with a leave-in conditioner I found at Whole Foods (they have a good selection of products for natural hair). I tried Miss Jessie’s Buttercreme. Although it worked pretty well, I felt the price was a bit overboard (I tried a friend’s b/c she had recently purchased more of the product and had been using it for a while. Proclaim Curl Activator Gel works well with defining curls but I felt as though I had to wash my hair everyday to minimize build-up. I also use Pooka Hair Butter and the Hair Oil which both keep my hair very moisturized.

Michelle- actually, my aunt, who has the exact same hair type as me has been using it ever since the brand came out recommended it to me. And her hair is perfectly fine.
And silicone is actually in most hair products, INCLUDING the professional brands like Paul Mitchell, Redken, and more. Research before you give people the wrong info, hun.

all i use is curl cream. any type. i just put it in my hair and scrunch my hair until it dries then hairspray it.
